Helping those who are in need in our church and community

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:36–39

Benevolence Application

Please read all of the instructions prior to filling out the application. We appreciate you taking the time to answer all questions that you are able to answer. Please answer truthfully and to the best of your ability. No answer to any particular question will disqualify you, as all cases are considered based upon a number of different factors.

We assure you we will treat all financial and personal information as strictly confidential at all times. Your information will be reviewed only by members of our church staff or necessary individuals associated with the benevolence process. Completing the benevolence application and participating in an interview does not guarantee benevolence assistance. Please provide a current email address, which is our primary means of communication for benevolence requests. If you do not have a current email address, please provide a phone number where you can always be reached.

We do not provide immediate payment. There is a minimum of 2 business days needed to verify the information on your application. After this, you will be notified of the next step, which is usually a follow-up interview. The benevolence interview often requires probing, difficult, and potentially uncomfortable questions related to your personal situation and spending habits. Be prepared that this may be part of the process.

Below are examples of assistance we ARE able to provide:

- Check made payable to the service provider (i.e. OGE for electric bill)

- Bills that are in good standing (not past due); the team will consider all bills submitted on a case-by-case basis

- Payment to the service provider through your online account with the service provider - (requires you give us your login information to whichever service provider the payment is due)

The following are examples of assistance we are NOT able to provide:

- Bills that are more than 60 days late

- Child care

- Medical bills

- Unsecured loan payments

- Taxes

- Legal expenses

- Any expense that is not an objectively verified need

- Any invoice, bill, or obligation that is not in the name of the applicant

Cash payments

*We are typically unable to offer assistance with rent/mortgage payments or temporary housing (ie hotels).*

Thank you for taking the time to read these instructions. We look forward to assisting you throughout this process.

Sincerely,

FBC Benevolence Team
